Sotiris is a photographer driven by a life long fascination with the wild and the unknown, with a strong attraction to unexplored and untouched environments. Photography was one of his earliest passions, from the age of five, he was already capturing animals on film cameras, developing a connection with the natural world that continues to shape his work today. With a background in Biology, specializing in Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation, his perspective is shaped by both scientific understanding and visual storytelling.
He is a wildlife researcher and a specialist in animal behavior, particularly in dogs, while also an experienced technical diver and cave explorer. These roles allow him to operate and document some of the most extreme and inaccessible environments on Earth, from deep cave systems to remote tropical rainforests. His work focuses on capturing moments that evoke emotion and reveal a deeper story. Through his photography, Sotiris seeks to explore themes of culture, behavior, and wildlife, always aiming to tell a meaningful narrative through each frame. He specializes in expedition photography, closely following biological, taxonomical, geological, and archaeological missions around the world. His images document not only the discoveries themselves but also the people, the process, and the scientific effort behind them.
His work has been published in National Geographic, as well as in numerous scientific journals and magazines, and he has received multiple awards in international photography competitions.
Through his work, Sotiris aims to bring attention to the natural wonders of our planet, inspiring others to explore, connect with, and ultimately help protect the fragile ecosystems that still remain.
